Hurray to you, for getting your first tattoo! Tattooing is a good means of self-expression, a remembrance of a great event, or a decorative means of beautifying your body with the art you adore.
Here are some tips in preparation for that first tattoo.
Find out the Process
Understand what it takes to get inked and what you can expect in the process. Find tattoo artists working in your area and check reviews or ask friends about these artists. You should take time to decide what design you want and where you want the tattoo.
Choose a Reputable Tattoo Artist
Seek to find an experienced, reputable tattoo artist who is licensed and follows proper safety and sterilization procedures. Don’t be fearful of asking him questions to make you feel confident about inking a tattoo from the artist.
Prepare Your Skin
Ensure that your skin is well and clean before you decide to go for tattooing. Avoid tanning and having sunburn; also, do not consume alcohol or blood thinners 24 hours before the tattooing session.
Pre-Tattooing
Wear loose-fitting comfortable clothing. You will want to be able to move and not chafe where you’re going to get the tattoo. Avoid coming in wearing tight jeans or pants; most people find them uncomfortable when being tattooed.
Eat a Meal Beforehand
You should eat a meal or two hours or so before coming in to get your tattoo. In this way, you’ll have energy, and then your blood sugar level won’t drop too much.
Consider the Placement
Where you get your tattoo may be as important as the design itself. Think about how you want the tattoo to stand out or how easily it can be covered up. Consider also how that tattoo will stretch or change shape as your body does. Remember that there are tattoos in any shape or form, so decide how large you’d want your tattoo to be. The bigger the tattoo, the costlier it would probably be, but it would also take up a lot more time. Consider the size as well in terms of how it will look on your body and what it is going to do to your features.
Think of the Color
Though black and grey tattoos are very popular, you may also want to add some color to your tattoo. However, some colors may fade or change over time, so it’s a good idea to discuss options with a tattoo artist beforehand.
Bring a Buddy
Sometimes, having a friend or someone you love to go with you to your tattoo appointment can help in the whole process. They can keep you calm when you get anxious and listen to you if you need a break or just want to vent. Just make sure you ask them first if they can accommodate the guest.
